Our Story

A Bar Built for Amsterdam

Simeel opened in the Jordaan with one belief: a great bar is the best room in the city. Somewhere intimate enough for a whisper, lively enough for a shout.

We took a narrow canal-side space, stripped it back to bare brick and dark timber, and built something that feels like it has always been here. Because that’s Amsterdam.

Named after an old Amsterdamse word for the silver glimmer that canal water makes under lamplight. You’ll understand it the moment you walk in.
